Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

While we were in China on our first adoption trip, we saw older girls at the orphanage and wondered what would happen to them and others like them. We still don't know but we understand that many would not find a Forever Family but rather live in an institution for several years before facing the harsh world. We want to help equip those girls with the skills needed to confront what challenges they may encounter. For all we know, maybe our efforts will help our girls' biological sister(s), if they are in the SWI system. If not, we know we will change a few lives for the better.

My interest in orphan relief began after my husband and I adopted our daughter in August of 2003 from YiYang, Hunan, PRC.  I feel as if I have a connection to all Chinese orphaned children through my daughter.  My deepest desire is to bring education assistance to the oldest children living in Chinese orphanages.  I feel that education will help them to live up to their potential and provide them with their best chance of a bright future.

My daughter is such a gift to our family that it is painful to know that there are thousands of girls like her who will never know the emotional, educational and financial advantages of a forever family.  Through the Jie Jie Foundation, I hope to provide assistance to some of these girls who face a very difficult future.

After being married for about 10 years, my husband and I adopted a baby girl from Guangdong, China in October 2003.  I immediately made a commitment to find other adoptive moms that I could connect with, as I took on the challenge of parenting my daughter.  One thing led to another and this initial commitment has turned into being on the board of the Jie Jie Foundation.  I hope that my involvement with this organization will not only help girls who may never find a forever family, but will also provide a connection for my daughter to be a "big sister" to those left behind in China's orphanages.
